St. Augustine, Florida

St. Augustine is a city in North East Florida and it was established in the 1500s. This city is so old it has many historical artifacts and interesting stories. It is a city that now is filled with many shops that each tells a story about the city and how it became such a historical land mark. This would be a great place for you and your family to stay it is much like the Mackinaw Island city filled with tons of sites and shops also has places to stay and dine at.

Historic Home in Marianna

If you and your family are in love with the history you want to see how soldiers fought the battle of Marianna. You can visit Marianna, Florida.  You can explore a battle field and stop by that spooky grave yard to pay your respects to soldiers or check out the other sites in the city.  This is a great place to visit if you are a history buff.

Museum of Florida History

If you are ever curious about Florida’s history visit the Museum of Florida in Tallahassee.   It is full of historical artifacts and legendary stories of Florida’s history.  Some permanent exhibits that you may find interesting and enjoy are the Florida in the Civil War, World War II, and the Naval Ships Named Florida. This is a  great way to help your kids learn a little history about Florida.

Southwest Florida Museum of History

Southwest Florida Museum of History located in Fort Meyers is another museum you could take interest in.   This museum takes you all the way back to prehistoric pioneers.  It shows you how they survived way back in the old days. It has a lot of artifacts used throughout earlier times in Florida. Some of the permanent exhibits are Paleo Florida, Calusa Indians, and Spanish Explorers.  The kids would love this place and there is tons of artifacts for them to check out, and lots of activities. This is an easy way to teach your kids about the pioneers.
